What each Semester 1 subject covers
BP101T: Python Programming
Python Programming for Pharmaceutical Sciences starts from zero: variables, data types, loops, conditions, functions and files, taught with pharmacy-flavoured examples, so a student who has never coded can still follow every unit and write small programs with confidence.
BP102T: General Pharmacy
General Pharmacy covers how pharmacy actually works: the history of the profession, pharmacopoeias and standards, dosage forms, routes of administration, prescriptions and how doses are calculated, giving first-year students the vocabulary the rest of the course builds on.
BP103T: Healthcare Psychology
Healthcare Psychology and Communication Skills looks at how patients think, feel and behave, and how a pharmacist should talk, listen and counsel: behaviour, motivation, stress, personality and the communication skills used at the counter and in the ward.
BP104T: Anatomy & Physiology I
Human Anatomy, Physiology and Pathophysiology I walks through the body system by system, from cells and tissues to the skeletal system, joints, blood and the special senses, with the disease processes that make the physiology matter clinically.
BP105T: Pharmacognosy
Introduction to Pharmacognosy is the study of medicines from nature: crude drugs, where they come from, how they are classified and evaluated, how adulteration is detected, and the classic plant drugs every pharmacist should recognise.
BP106T: Inorganic & Analytical Chemistry
Pharmaceutical Inorganic and Analytical Chemistry deals with inorganic compounds used as medicines, the limit tests that check them for impurities, electrolytes and buffers, and the analytical methods, including titrations, that verify quality.
